NANOINTERACT (17 partners, Specific Targeted Research Program, FP6) focuses on risk assessment of engineered nanoparticles and is aimed at co-ordinating with other experts and groupings the levels and routes of nanoparticle exposure, the means of entry and subsequent transport processes in living organisms, and thereby typical concentrations residing in the different organs.
Collaboration with ECO: To this day there exists no clear understanding of the nature and origin of the risks involved in the manufacture, processing, and use of small particles, both research and regulatory frameworks being at early stages of development. New methodology based on machine learning methods needs to be developed to address this problem.
